Moving is complicated, so to help you stay organized, here are some frequently asked questions to help guide you in your move
The most frequently asked question we are asked is: What forms of payments do you accept?
We gladly accept all major credit/debit cards and cash. We DO NOT accept checks.
- Should you hire movers or move yourself? This is a question that plagues all people who are moving. Like most decisions, the answer is different for everyone, depending on factors such as time, money, and difficulty and complexity of the move. Hiring professional movers can help alleviate stress, and hard labor intensive work.
- What type of payments are accepted? We accept all major credit/debit cards and cash. Deposits are applied to the overall balance. Final balance is required at the end of service.
- Should I tip the movers and how much? This is a very common question from our customers. Our movers are very hard workers, and we take pride in our customer service. If you feel you had a great moving experience, feel free to tip your movers. There is no obligation to tip, but it is always appreciated.
- How long will it take to move? While the actual amount of time it takes to move can vary greatly from move to move, professional movers provide these general timelines based on the size of an apartment: Studio or one-bedroom moves take about 2-3 hours. Two-bedroom moves take about 3-5 hours. Three to four-bedroom moves take up to 7 hours. We can always provide you with an estimated length of time.
- How can I ensure that my belongings will end up in the correct room? Make sure to label your boxes clearly for the movers, and explain your labeling system to your movers. Color coding for each room is a great idea, or consistent shorthand such as DR for dining room, MBR for master bedroom, etc. Also, have a floor-plan, or even a map, in mind for the new location. Two Men and a Lady Moving will be happy to arrange your furniture at your request in each room.
- Can I still move during inclement weather? Two Men and a Lady Moving will move you in rain, sleet or snow. We have done it all!
- Do the movers take lunch? Do I need to provide lunch for them? Depending on how long the move is, the movers might take a 30 minute break for lunch. Although it is certainly not required, providing lunch for the crew is very much appreciated and might make for a shorter day since time would be eliminated in getting to and from a restaurant.
- How should I prepare my appliances for a move? We will be happy to unhook and hook up your appliances such as the refrigerator, freezer, washer, and dryer. However, movers are not licensed to disconnect gas nor are they licensed plumbers. We do not accept any liability for these connections.
- What are moving reservations or arrangements to consider? Consider what arrangements need to be made prior to leaving your current home. If you live in an apartment, your building may have specific moving requirements. We resign the responsibility to contact your building about these requirements. We advise that you inquire the building’s supervisor or management company regarding their procedures. Depending on the items and the building layout, among other factors, some arrangements needed are:
- Elevator Reservations: is there a freight elevator?
- Parking Permits: where can the moving van/truck park?
10. How do you bill/charge me for hours worked?
We are an HOURLY labor service. WE CHARGE BY THE HOUR. Which means if your time runs over by 15 minutes we charge for another FULL HOUR. WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR 1/4 hours, 1/2 hours or for 3/4 hours. WE CHARGE FOR FULL HOURS.
